Escaped Prisoner Recaptured

A 32-year-old man who escaped Couva police officers on Thursday morning was recaptured at his home the same night, according to police.

Police officers are now thanking the public for their assistance in the recapture of the man who was being tried for several drug related, and robbery offences.

According to police officers Ishmeed Mohammed was being transported to the Couva Magistrates’ Court around 9.15 on Thursday, when he escaped from Couva Police officers who were transporting him.

Officers of the Couva Police Station, Couva CID Gran Couva Police Station and the Central Division Task Force, sprung into action and executed a manhunt that would last about ten hours.

After scouring the surrounding areas, police received information that led them to his home on Teelucksingh Street, California, where he was hiding.

Police officers stormed the house and nabbed the escapee at about 7 pm on Thursday.

The escapee is once again in police custody and is now awaiting to be charged for escaping.
