The nude body of a 59-year-old woman whose hands and feet were bound, was discovered yesterday by the victim’s 25-year-old daughter.
According to reports at around 5 pm the victim’s daughter went to visit her mother, Elisabeth Lewis, when she discovered the nude body lying face down.
Officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station were alerted along with the Homicide and CSI. A party of officers led by Sen Sup Nelson, Insp Ken Lutchman along with SGT Harper, PC Sankar, Siaw and WPC Kiray visited the scene along with a district medical officer.
The woman who discovered the body said she last saw her mother alive on Friday. Investigators said that the wooden house where the body was found was in a total state of disarray with food and clothing strewn all over the floor. The victim was not known to be suffering from any illnesses, and police suspect that she was raped by the person who later killed her.
The body of the murdered woman was removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy to be done.
The murder toll for the year now stands at 272
